Vejer de la Frontera is an Andalusian town sitauted 10 kilometres inland, from the Costa de la Luz coastline. It is situated high above the steep gorge of the Barbate River. The closest towns are Barbate and Conil de la Frontera.

Set 200m above the surrounding countryside, it offers spectacular views across the Sierra de Cadiz. The village is a perfect example of what many Andalusian towns were like during the five centuries of Islamic occupation in southern Spain.

Vejer is typically Spanish; the narrow winding streets and white washed houses remain completely unspoilt. The architecture is a blend of Moorish, Visigoth and Mudejar styles. It was declared a national monument in 1978. The village is dominated by a Moorish castle and a gothic church. This church was built over the site of an ancient mosque.

The beaches close to Vejer have fine white sands, transparent waters and are surrounded by picturesque natural landscapes. It's an open and friendly village with a lively atmosphere and many things to do and see.
